Prof. András Pataricza and András Földvári from Budapest University of Technology and Economics were visiting ResilTech. They presented works on error propagation analysis in risk and mitigation assessment in cyber-physical systems.

They were working on a standard-compliant analysis workflow for early estimation of risk, mitigation strategies, and cost impacts for cybersecurity. The goal of the workflow and the corresponding analysis framework is to support the domain experts’ effort by providing a hierarchical modeling approach for qualitative analysis, reasoning, and optimization.

The ADVANCE secondments at the University of Florence have resumed. Camilo Gómez and Daniel Cuellar from UNIANDES are visiting UNIFI and have already held a seminar on Stochastic Optimization for CPSs. Common research interests have been identified and will be explored during their secondment.

The European Union announced new Staff Exchanges actions available from 2022 in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.

Staff Exchanges represent a similar structure to the ADANCE project, where researchers at all career stage can be seconded to other organizations to inspire new ideas and offer career development.

For more details, check out the MCSA Staff Exchanges calls for proposals or the news from European Research Executive Agency.

After an unexpected long break due to COVID, the ADVANCE project have been resumed and secondments have already been started.

Prof. Regina Lúcia de Oliveira Moraes was visiting UNICAMP and performed research on DevSecOps and adaptations for Cyber-Physical Systems.

Prof. Raul Barbosa was visiting ResilTech, and presented works on fault-tolerant virtualization and its possible applications in automotive systems.

Profa. Dra. Regina Lúcia de Oliveira Moraes was seconded to INPE in two periods during November 2019 and November 2020. The main goal of the first period was to understand the BEDCS - Brazilian Environmental Data Collection System to elicit further requirements for the ADVANCE project. She visited several INPE facilities and had discussions with INPE staff. Moreover, she witnessed the launch of a balloon to collect data on the ozone layers. She visited several related institutions, including the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and International Neuroscience Institute Edmond and Lilly Safra.

In the second period, she were working with INPE on new approaches for V&V process of the nanosatellites. They investigated whether the CubeSat standard allows to simplify the V&V process due to the standard interfaces and the tests performed in its engineering process before being delivered as a COTS-based nanosatellite. The result of the investigative work resulted in a joint conference publication to be published at the end of December/2020.

On December 2nd she gave a lecture for the graduate students at INPE. The title, “Sistemas Ciber-Físicos: os desafios dos sistemas emergentes” showed a broad cut of V&V activities and the INPE initiatives so far. Finally, she visited the Engineering site and LIT laboratory at INPE.
